Abstract: Face cooling activates the mammalian dive reflex. This reflex is characterized by parasympathetic and sympathetic activation that ultimately manifests as elevations in blood pressure in humans. Maintaining blood pressure is paramount to surviving a hemorrhagic injury. This research aims to determine the efficacy of face cooling to maintain blood pressure during simulated hemorrhage induced by lower body negative pressure.
