Muhamed McBryde.

Muhamed McBryde is currently a graduate student in exercise science at the University at Buffalo School of Public Health and Health Professions.

How did you become interested in exercise science as your field of study?

As an undergrad I took courses on a Pre-PA/Pre-Med track and have always been interested in physiology in general. I was also on the wrestling team here at UB and exercising was essentially my life. The exercise science program was the perfect combination for me, as it provided the opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of the science behind exercise.

Why did you choose UB?

I transferred to UB from Erie Community College. I chose UB because it was close to home, affordable and allowed me to receive a high-level education while also pursuing my athletic career in wrestling.

Tell us more about your experience in the exercise science program.

I have one more year to complete my master's in exercise science and I plan on completing a thesis related to environmental physiology. I am also volunteering in the Human Integrative Physiology and Thermal Physiology Labs under Dr. Blair Johnson and Dr. Zachary Schlader examining thermal behavior and chemoreceptor responses to water immersion in diving.

What do you enjoy the most about the exercise science program?

The thing that I enjoy most about the exercise science program is the amount of learning that takes place.  We are exposed to so many unique and fascinating aspects of physiology through the all of the current research in the field talking place here at UB.

How does receiving a degree from UB SPHHP set you apart?

A degree from UB SPHHP means that you have been educated in a very diverse environment that emphasizes excellence and you have been exposed to a very select community of experts who are striving to make a difference in the world.
