Field Training Experiences

From organizing mosquito surveillance programs to conducting lead awareness campaigns, our field placement training provides students with a wide array of opportunities to gain practical, real-world experience in their field of choice.

Rebecca Hammett

MPH Student in Environmental Health

During the summer of 2016, Rebecca Hammett completed 120 hours of field training at the Niagara County Department of Health within the environmental health division. Rebecca worked closely with department health officials on a wide variety of public health initiatives, educational programs and special projects.

Robert Coleman

MPH Student in Epidemiology

With a specific interest in infectious disease epidemiology, Robert Coleman completed his field training at the Genesee and Orleans County Department of Health in Batavia, New York. As part of his training experience, Robert gained practical experience to infectious disease surveillance by helping organize and manage a newly-started Zika Virus surveillance program.
