Student Internships

We provide learning opportunities for students from all disciplines to study Assistive Technology (AT) through the Center for Assistive Technology (CAT) internships.

Our commitment to AT includes helping educate future practitioners in the field.

Interns participate in wide-ranging experiences, including:

  • Engaging with individuals who use AT devices
  • Helping people implement devices for daily activities, including for work and education
  • Having hands-on access to a variety of devices

Interns are able to gain additional experience by working with our partners and other community service providers, including the New York State Commission for the Blind (NYSCB) and Adult Career and Continuing Education Services-Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) as well as regional employers, colleges and school districts.

Internships for students from UB’s School of Public Health and Health Professions must register formally with their department of study.

For students interested in volunteering with CAT Client Services, you may contact Erin Brunelle directly at or (716) 836-0230.
