Project name: Multiple projects in the Eating Behavior Research Laboratory

Project goals: The Eating Behavior Research Laboratory is looking for research assistants. We study eating behaviors and risk factors for obesity among parents and children. We have multiple ongoing research projects, predominantly piloting and assessing the effectiveness of a positive food parenting intervention. This intervention aims to increase positive food parenting, which in turn should improve child health outcomes such as eating behaviors, diet quality and weight status. Qualified students may be involved in designing the intervention, scheduling participants, running appointments, scoring data and analyzing data. Another ongoing project involves studying the relationships between parent and child screen time and food motivation. The goal of this study is to assess relationships between screen use, food motivation and screen motivation in parent-child pairs.

Project tasks: Qualified students would be involved in running appointments, collecting data, and potentially analyzing and presenting data.

Duration of research experience: Fall

Time commitment: 6 to 12 hours

Will this be in person or remote: In a laboratory
