Many of your online courses will use the tools listed below. These tools will help you access course and other content, collaborate with fellow students and faculty, and take tests. Reference these guides frequently, especially when you encounter technical difficulties, and don't ever hesitate to contact support.

UB Learns

UB Learns is the Course Management System at UB. Instructors can post syllabi, readings and assignments as well as communicate via email, virtual chats and discussion boards.

Panopto

Some professors record their classes so you can watch them at your convenience from anywhere. Learn how to access your recorded classes and troubleshoot playback problems.

UBbox

UBbox may be used to store, share and access academic and university-related documents from anywhere, with people inside and outside of UB.

Zoom

Zoom is an easy-to-use video communication platform that includes video conferencing, recording, phone, chat and screen sharing.  Zoom will allow you to attend your courses remotely, collaborate on group projects, connect with professors during office hours, & give remote presentations.

WebEx

Cisco Webex is a Web conferencing tool available to UB faculty, staff and students that enables fully interactive video and audio connections with people locally and around the world. Zoom will allow you to attend your courses remotely, collaborate on group projects, connect with professors during office hours, and give remote presentations.

Respondus: LockDown Browser and Monitor

Respondus tools are used to deter cheating in non-proctored exams in UB Learns.

Top Hat

Top Hat is a web-based software tool teachers can use to take attendance, administer polls and quizzes, play games and share notes. Students can use their laptop, phone or tablet to participate.
