Deadline

The deadline for applying to the MD-PhD is Dec. 1. We encourage you to notify us of your intent as soon as possible.

Prerequisites/Requirements

Successful applicants to our program possess superior MCAT scores and grade point averages. All applicants must take the MCAT and submit their scores to our program.

We give particular consideration to students whose undergraduate education emphasizes research and science, and those with research experience or published work. In addition to your statement of career objectives and CV, we read your letters of recommendation closely for evidence of your proven aptitude and future potential in scientific research.

We offer applicants who plan a research or academic career in the biomedical disciplines opportunities for research and training to pursue their individual goals and clinical interests. Medical students with appropriate research experience may apply to the MD-PhD within the first two years of medical school.

If you plan to concentrate in a discipline related to the chemical or physical sciences, you should have completed or be in the process of completing mathematics through calculus, physics and physical chemistry, and advanced organic chemistry. If you plan to concentrate in a field related to the biological aspects of medical science, the requirements for physics are less rigorous, but a strong background in mathematics and chemistry is still essential.

Evaluation

We carefully consider your statement of career objectives, prior research experience and letters of support. You will need to submit at least three letters of recommendation through AMCAS, as part of your application to the medical school. At least one of these letters must also address your participation in research.

After review, we will mail you an invitation for an interview or a final decision.
