10th Joint Conference of the Upstate Chapters of the American Statistical Association
The UP-STAT conference is the joint conference of the Upstate New York chapters of the American Statistical Association (ASA). The conference aims to bring together statistical scientists, computational and data scientists, as well as other professionals from related relevant fields with which statistical sciences (statistics and biostatistics) interact, from upstate New York and its neighboring regions.

Scientific discoveries are emerging at an accelerating pace in virtually every field, transforming the science and engineering landscape and opening entirely new territory for exploration. Moreover, the generation of knowledge, requiring creativity and fresh ideas, takes place in a dynamic, complex, and competitive environment. Building on decades of fundamental research, investigators are creating models of increasingly complex systems across disciplines and scales. A deeper understanding of these systems may help explain how networks of cells communicate, how species interactions create the biosphere, how simple human interactions collectively yield complex social behavior.
Following today’s requirements, the theme of this year’s conference demonstrates the power of statistical thinking as a foundation for knowledge, discovery, and innovation, in enabling the solution of important biomedicine and public health problems, and at the same time, enhancing and moving forward the scientific core of statistical sciences. Both of these aspects are present in the program of the conference.
We welcome submissions related to statistical, computational and data science methodology research. Additionally, we are inviting submissions that fall under the umbrella of convergence research, examples of which include but are not limited to combating the opioid epidemic, identifying models for effective health care delivery, and understanding complex biological systems such as the nervous system, and apply this understanding to develop new medical treatments.
The scientific program contains keynote addresses, specially invited and invited sessions, panels, student sessions, tutorials, and a data analytics competition.
Deadline for abstract submission: April 11, 2022.
