Abstract: Using data from the Osteoporosis and Periodontal Disease Study, an ancillary study of the Women’s Health Initiative Observational cohort, this grant investigates whether baseline (1997-2000) vitamin D status, assessed with plasma 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) concentrations, are associated with prevalent periodontal disease assessed at baseline and five-year progression (2002-2005) of disease.
