Summary Education and Training Specializations

James Livesey, PhD, received his PhD in Mathematical Statistics from Clemson University. Prior to joining the department, he was a Principal Researcher and Group Leader for Time Series Methodology at the U.S. Census Bureau, where his work focused on the development of statistical methodology for official statistics and complex time series data. His research interests center on time series analysis, multivariate signal extraction, seasonal adjustment, statistical modeling, and computational statistics. He is particularly interested in developing statistical methods that improve the extraction of meaningful signals from high-dimensional and complex data, with applications to biomedical, economic, and social data. His broader methodological interests include multivariate and network time series, clustering, privacy-preserving statistical methods, and machine learning.
