Douglas supports the array of sponsored projects provided by CAT Client Services, and operates assistive technology loan programs funded by vocational rehabilitation agencies in New York State.
Douglas completes administrative duties that support the sponsored programs operated by CAT Client Services, which enable individuals with disabilities to participate in vocational settings and attain independent living goals. For over ten years, Douglas has overseen the operation of one of only two sites for the New York State Commission for the Blind (NYSCB) Equipment Loan. Through this program, he maintains an inventory of high-tech assistive technology equipment, including Braille displays and notetakers, computer systems with screen reading and magnification software, and digital magnifiers. He collaborates with vocational rehabilitation counselors across the state to receive referrals, set up assistive technology equipment to meet the individual’s needs, and provide the loaned equipment to NYSCB clients.
Douglas also assists with the operation of the New York State Technology-Related Assistance for Individuals with Disabilities (TRAID) program. He maintains the TRAID’s inventory of assistive technology funded by Adult Career and Continuing Education Services-Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR), providing loans to individuals with disabilities participating in vocational programs. Douglas has a Certificate in Office Technology and over a decade of experience working with assistive technology.
