Effects of toxic chemicals on child health, maternal and child health, and nutritional interventions among children
Gauri Desai, PhD, MPH, PGD, joined the Department of Epidemiology and Environmental Health at UB as a teaching assistant in 2017 and was promoted to adjunct instructor in Spring 2020. Later, she was appointed to clinical assistant professor in September 2020. She currently teaches courses for both undergraduate- and graduate-level public health programs.
Her research focuses on the effects of toxic chemicals on child health, maternal and child health, and nutritional interventions among children. She was recently a data analyst for a research project that analyzed data from the 2009-2014 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey to assess the connections between dietary intake and blood lead levels in US children. This project was supported by a grant from the Clinical and Translational Science Institute at UB.
