Projects

There are several ongoing projects funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH) and other funding sources as part of the System-oriented Global Childhood Obesity Intervention Program.  Each project serves to bring together researchers in childhood obesity and related research fields worldwide to fight the global childhood epidemic.

  • U.S. NASA Mission X: Train Like an Astronaut program

    The Global Childhood Obesity Prevention Program is working with the United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) as an official collaborative partner in its Global Mission X: Train Like an Astronaut program.
  • Multilevel Systems-oriented Childhood Obesity Study in China

    This project studies the impact of the contextual factors on children's dietary intakes using an innovative, integrated conceptual framework and novel statistical approaches, including systems analysis.
  • Causes and Interventions for Childhood Obesity: Innovative Systems Analysis

    This study uses innovative, integrated and conceptual frameworks, along with multilevel statistical analysis approaches, to examine the influences and interactions between individual, family and environmental factors on childhood obesity.
  • Childhood Obesity Prevention Programs

    These programas conduct systematic reviews and meta-analysis to assess the effects of interventions that are directed at children and/or their families on childhood obesity and related conditions, and children's related knowledge, beliefs, and attitude.
  • U.S. CDC Community Preventive Services Task Force Community Guide on Childhood Obesity prevention

    This program will help to develop a Center for Disease Control (CDC) Community Guide on School-based Childhood Obesity Prevention.
  • The Influence of Genetics and Calcium Intake on Child Growth and Health During Puberty: A Twin Study in China

    This program is a study of cohort twins in China to examine how genetics, dietary calcium intake and their interaction affect children's adiposity and health.
