SPHHP Academics Day

Academics Day is part of UB's Welcome Weekend, the official kickoff to the fall semester for students. Connect with fellow new students, explore opportunities in the School of Public Health and Health Professions and start your UB journey feeling confident and ready to thrive.

Where: Harriman Ballroom, UB's South Campus

Transportation

If taking UB transportation: Please board a UB Stampede bus departing from Flint Loop at 12:05, 12:25 or 12:45 p.m. to reach the event on time. SPHHP peer mentors will be at the Flint Loop stop to greet you and ride down to the event with you. 

At the conclusion of the event, peer mentors can assist you in getting back to the appropriate bus stop for your next destination.

If using personal transportation: Please park in the Diefendorf Lot (using entrance off Bailey Ave.) and follow the signs (or locate an SPHHP representative in a blue polo shirt) to the front of Harriman Hall for check in. GPS coordinates for parking lots are available to assist with navigation. 

The event starts promptly at 1 p.m. Please ensure you have enough time to travel to the South Campus to arrive on time.

SPHHP Interactive Academics Fair | 1 p.m.

Mix and mingle with SPHHP students, faculty and staff! Each academic department and student services area will have an interactive activity for students to engage with while completing their SPHHP 2026 Student Success Passport. Upon completion of the passport students will receive an SPHHP t-shirt.

The Veggie Van will provide snacks and an open market for students to explore. Health on Wheels will also be on hand to provide students tours of the mobile unit and free blood pressure checks.

Faculty and administration will also be present to welcome our new students. 

Departmental Activities | 3 p.m.

  • Occupational Therapy: Students will gather with the program director and faculty members for a meet-and-greet session.
