Particle Pollution and Health: An explanation on different kinds of air particle pollution and how it may negatively affect health. This site also provides a breakdown of air quality alerts, as well as recommendations on how to reduce exposure to particle pollution.
Air Quality Monitoring: Information on how the DEC and its partners are tracking air quality throughout New York State, along with historical ambient air quality reports.
Known DEC Superfund Sites: The DEC info locator allows the user to toggle on and off different layers of information such as the remediation sites under Environmental cleanup and the air monitoring sites. Codes and links to databases can be found from the superfund sites when a location is clicked on.
Environmental Remediation Database: This page brings the user to three different database search options which are the following: Spill Incidents Database search, Environmental site Remediation database search, and Bulk storage database search. These can be used to find the site codes for a given industry.
Site Classifications: Gives a complete definition of the different classification codes for registry and non-registry sites. Along with going into detail about what each classification means, this link details the threat to public health and environment.
DEC Index of Site Codes: On this site all of the online documents for each DEC site can be found. This will include remediation plans, any data that has been digitized, and other relevant documents attached to site code. This does not include every document related to the site code.
FOIL Requests: On this page you may submit a FOIL request, locate FOIL requests that have already been submitted, and find additional information related to spill incidents, remedial sites, and waste management.
EPA search site: This link brings the user to the EPA’s search site where definitions of terms can be searched. Depending on the term, multiple different definitions can be found here from several sources.
Air Quality Index (AQI) Report: Reports that show the overall air quality of a region within a year by considering all criteria air pollutants. Useful information for this resource: about AQI reports and how to interpret an AQI report, about criteria air pollutants.
Tonawanda Community Air Quality Study (NY DEC): A community air quality monitoring study to evaluate public health risks in disadvantaged communities from pollutant concentration exposures.
Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs): General information about HAPs and the Clean Air Act, which requires the EPA to regulate toxic air pollutants from categories of industrial facilities.
