Summary

Jill E. Mayer joined the Department of Rehabilitation Science in 2024 as a clinical assistant professor and associate director of clinical education in the doctor of physical therapy program. She holds a board certification in neurologic physical therapy through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and has worked with patients with neurologic diagnoses in nearly all settings. She remains active in clinical practice in the outpatient neuro setting.  Along with her clinical passion, Mayer greatly enjoys educating and working with future clinicians in the academic setting where she has taught courses related to Neurologic Rehabilitation and Examination, Mobility Training, PT Documentation, Motor Control and Motor Learning, Integrated Clinical Experiences and others.  Alongside the Director of Clinical Education, she now works with physical therapy clinical partners nationwide to offer significant internship experiences for our UB PT students. Mayer's current research focuses on oncology rehabilitation, interprofessional education, and using technology to advance outcomes in patients with neurologic injury.
