A cornerstone of the MPH, field training provides students with diverse public health practice experiences vital to their training and professional growth.

Program Overview

Students will be placed with a public health organization to apply knowledge and skills gained through coursework in a hands-on, practice-based experience. Under the mentorship of a site supervisor, students develop products that help the organization achieve its goals, demonstrating and strengthening public health competencies throughout the experience.

  • Health department or other government agency
  • Nonprofit or community-based organization
  • Hospitals or healthcare delivery / clinic network
  • Research and policy center
  • Health advocacy organization
  • Health education or outreach program
  • Insurance company

If you have qualifying practice-based public health experience, you may be eligible to complete field training at your workplace or request a waiver based on recent experience.
