  2. When completing the application, please be sure to address the following in your personal statement:
  3. Pay the University at Buffalo $50 application fee, in addition to the application via required by SOPHAS.
There will be a grace period of up to Jan. 20 to pay the UB application fee. UB application fees submitted after this date will result in an incomplete application. We do not offer fee waivers based on financial need alone. See the tuition and financial aid tab for more information.

Deadline

Due date for receipt of completed PhD program applications for domestic students for fall admissions is Jan. 15.

Please take into account that processing times can take up to four weeks when you submit your application. Applications are considered for fall semester admission only; there are no spring semester admissions.

All application materials must be received by the department prior to the January 15 deadline for admission consideration. If you have submitted your SOPHAS application by the requested deadline, your application is not considered complete until we have received all supplemental materials; this includes three letters of recommendation, transcripts, English language test scores (if applicable), and the $50 UB application fee. If materials are received after Jan. 15, your application is considered "incomplete."
