Admissions

Please take into account that processing times can take up to four weeks when you submit your application. Applications are considered for fall semester admission only; there are no spring semester admissions. 

All application materials must be received by the department prior to the January 15 deadline for admission consideration. 

• A bachelor’s degree; a master’s degree is preferred.
  
• Official transcripts from previous institutions. 
• GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Three letters of recommendation.

GRE scores are not required and will not be considered.

1. First, complete the application via the Graduate School Application Manager.
2. When completing the application, please be sure to address the following in your personal statement: 
   • Why you are interested in pursuing a PhD in Community Health and Health Behavior?
   • Your career plans following the PhD program.
   • Your primary research interests.
   • The program faculty you have identified as possible mentoring matches based on your research interests. Learn more about CHHB faculty research interests on their profile pages.
     
3. Have previous educational institutions send official transcripts to our department via email at sphhp-chhb-ms-phd@buffalo.edu. 
   
4. Pay the University at Buffalo $50 application fee.
