Prerequisites

UB students within the 3+3 ES BS / DPT track must complete all undergraduate courses necessary for the exercise science BS degree before entering the Graduate DPT Program.

Honors College applicants must maintain a prerequisite GPA of 3.5 as well as their Honors College standing throughout the semester in the year that they apply to the Program.

Current DPT Early Assurance Students must maintain both an overall GPA of 3.5 and a prerequisite GPA of 3.0.

Early Assurance Students that do not maintain the GPAs referenced above will be moved to the general applicant pool when they apply to the program.

A minimum GPA of 3.0 and a minimum grade of C- or better is required in all prerequisite coursework.

• General Anatomy
• Human Physiology (300/400 level)
• Chemistry I and II with lab
• Physics I and II with lab
• College-level Pre-calculus or Calculus
• Psychology (Child or Developmental Psychology is recommended but not required)
• Statistics (Statistics that a science major would take. Business Statistics will NOT be accepted)
• Biomechanics (300/400 level)
• Exercise Science course with laboratory sections that include exercise testing and fitness evaluation (300/400 level)
• Exercise Science course that includes exercise physiology or introduction to athletic injury (300/400 level)
• Neuroscience (300/400 level) 
  • This course is offered online immediately after gross human anatomy.

If you have not completed gross human anatomy or neuroscience, you can still apply to the DPT program without having met these requirements.

If you are accepted into the program, you will be required to take these two courses at UB the summer before the DPT program classes begin in the fall. 

Undergraduate UB international students have the same prerequisite courses and prerequisite GPA requirement as any UB student applicant.

Non-UB international students applying to the Graduate DPT Program have the same prerequisite course requirement as any non-UB student applicant.

International Students are required to provide WES transcripts (if applicable) and their TOEFL or Duolingo* score when applying in PTCAS.

*A Duolingo score of 120 is required for those applying to the DPT Program.
