Title: Analysis of Cardiovascular Disease Biomarkers in BCOPS Study

Period: 08/01/12 - 07/31/13

Abstract: This project analyzes Endothelin-1, E-selectin and Vascular Cell Adhesion Molecule (VCAM) which interact to initiate the inflammatory process preceding atherosclerosis development. Measurement of these novel biomarkers will permit the examination of associations with 1) psychological stressors in a known high stress occupational group, and 2) subclinical cardiovascular disease (CVD) in a population known to have high levels of CVD risk factors and CVD.
