Current and incoming students will be contacted with the department form during February/March for eligible students to complete. If you are submitting an application to a UB Exercise and Nutrition Sciences graduate program, you have the opportunity to upload an Assistantship Qualification Statement, where you can detail your eligibility (prior or current paid teaching experience, high academic merit, etc.).

International students: Visit UB's English Language Institute page to review current policies concerning spoken English proficiency of teaching assistants.

Awarding Process

Applicants will be ranked by the Graduate Affairs Committee according to their academic records, letters of recommendation and, if practical, an interview. Doctoral students in their first year of study will be given preference. The Graduate Affairs Committee will make recommendations to the department chair regarding the ranking of applicants, and the chair will award assistantships by April 15 whenever possible.
