As a senior biostatistician with Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, Chong Wang is helping the organization work toward its mission of understanding, preventing and curing cancer.
She collaborates with researchers and scientists to provide statistical expertise for retrospective analyses and protocol designs. She also conducts statistical analysis and reports and interprets the results. Additionally, Wang writes the statistical sections for manuscripts and provides responses to statistical critiques from journal reviewers.
She said that her UB education helped prepare her for career success, and that she appreciated the program’s exceptional faculty and the environment, which inspired and valued research.
“In addition to theoretical work, the courses focused on statistical application and research in health-related institutes and industries. This really provided me with valuable hands-on experiences for my future career," she said.
UB’s Department of Biostatistics works closely with Roswell Park and Wang was able to collaborate with researchers there while still a student.
After graduating from UB, Wang was a statistical analyst in the Department of Biostatistics at St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. She was responsible for retrospective statistical analysis on pediatric cancer data.
